Lakers lose 9th straight on the road to the Mavericks. 106-87
You can only imagine what
Gary Payton is thinking right now. He signed up to be on the one team. The one team that would rule them all! Gary,
Kobe,
Karl and
Shaq. It was thought you could throw your grandmother in at the 3 spot and the Lakers would still win 70 games. But it seemed doomed from the start. Right after the Payton-Malone signing Kobe found his new reasons to
lose endorsements. Then with all the injuries this year it's been a mad mad mad mad world in the Staples Center.
Well if Shaq has TWISM(The World Is Mine) as his slogan, he should hold part of the blame right? Granted he's been injured, but somehow I feel if had some sort of leadership of the team in place they might of been able to weather this a little better. You would think he would be the defacto leader of the team since he lead the team to a 3-peat. But somehow his cavalier attitude has let Gary Payton come in and have to take the reigns of this team. Analysts have been saying the Lakers aren't even running the trademark triangle offense half the time anymore. They say it's Gary Payton running his running offense he had in Seattle for all those years. But if you were Gary wouldn't you do something, anything to try to get the wins. This was the starting 5 last night vs. Dallas on the road. Gary Payton,
Kareem Rush,
Devean George,
Luke Walton,
Stanislav Medvedenko. Not quite the one team to rule them all. More like what you expect to see in the last 2 minutes of the half.
I don't have their answers either. If I did have any answers I'd sure give them to Orlando. But it's still amazing to see none the less. We'll wait to see if the one team can make it to play for the one ring. Can
Garnett lead his new superteam? Can
Duncan keep his team together long enough? And just will we see
The return of the King?
