I think a while ago I mentioned my Linksys router crapped out on me when I tried to upgrade the firmware. I've been using a extra computer I have running internet connection sharing through Windows 2000. Recently the DNS function seems to be on the fritz. I'll have to try a few times to try to get to a webpage. The speed is still there. It's crazy fast. Like 2800bps down and 256bps up. But the DNS is just messing up. I tried surfing a while having the cable modem plugged in to just one computer to make sure it wasn't Charter's problem. It didn't seem to happen. So I then took on a big task. I turned my extra computer into a dual booting machine, Red Hat 9 Linux and Windows 2000. It was nice because I used Partion Magic so my Win2k install was unaffected. I was trying to us DHCPD in linux to farm out my internet. It didn't go so easy. At first I was trying to do it all from the prompt and after some frustration minutes I went and installed Gnome. I then found another cool program called
Webmin. It enables to you adjust and totally control your linux box through a web interface. Granted it didn't configure DHCPD very well it's cool none-the-less. Long story short it didn't work and I'm back to using Win2k. All because I'm too cheap to buy a new router.
Now that I've bored you with a boring post. See what Matt has to say.
I win!
I've been playing
Nascar Racing 2003 since the real NASCAR season started. Its a really fun
realistic racing game. It is very realistic. That makes it hard to drive but it rewards you with some fun side by side racing.
I had been in a little bit of a slump. I wasn't finishing races because I was always seeming to get in an accident or mechanical problems. Well this week it turned around. On monday one of the leagues I race in
HTPC was running a truck race at Texas and I just stuck with it and finished 2nd out of about 9 I think. That's not many but all of them are really good. Then I got back to racing Friday night with my dad and we ended up racing on the real sim racing server and it was my lucky night. I finished 2nd at Daytona, 1st at Richmond, 2nd at Lowes, 8th at Atlanta and 1st at Pocono. And each race had a lot of drivers except for Pocono that one only had 9, but all the others had about 30 drivers. I probably won't have a night that good in a while.
Today I'm going to go watch some offroad RC racing. The local club up here the
St. Louis Dirt Burners races 1/8 gas buggy, gas stadium truck, monster truck, electric buggy and electric stadium truck. I've raced electric buggy and stadium truck before but all my stuff is in Florida still. It should be fun though as long as the rain holds off.
