Daytona Starts with a Crash!

R² Racing kicked off a new season at Daytona tonight in WORonline.net's Tuesday night league. Ryan Ligon looked to start the new season in the right direction by grabbing the pole while Ryan Hill qualified 4th. But after server troubles and a server restarts the starting field was randomized for a new start.

After a long green flag run, the first yellow was called for debris. That only began a series of cautions that would plague the rest of the race. Soon after the first caution Ryan Ligon was tagged while going into turn three. After major damage he was only able to continue for a few more laps.

Ryan Hill was able to keep his car clean for the rest of the race and teamed up with Candyman to move to the front. But as a late caution led to a 10 lap shootout, Hill was unable to move up any higher than a fourth place finish.

"I feel bad for the team. I mean we had a really good hot rod tonight. The fact that we had the pole proves that." Ryan Ligon said after the race. "I came in this year to work on reducing the number of DNF's I had from last year and this isn't a good start. At least the new cars looked pretty."
